Should I switch to Directv just so I can watch the Thursday night games?! IS IT WORTH IT SATELLITE NATION?

4 Channel DVR
Dolphin Pride! asked:

I can’t watch the NFL NETWORK games on THURSDAY NIGHT but I already have called and can get installed tomorrow if I want. SHOULD I!?!?!

I currently pay 80$ a month for my cable w/ HD access.

DTV offers me more channels, INCLUDING MORE HD CHANNELS and they says it better quality than digital cables HD or something. I dont understand all that hooplah.. anyways

So DTV, More Channels in better HD w/ a DVR, for $49.99 a month for the 1st year, then it goes up to 69.99 after that. I have 2 rooms, so there will also be a 4.99 charge for the 2nd room. The DVR and HD access are included.. So my bill will be cheaper the first year.. and then be about the same after a year as cable was.

NOTES! I get 3 months free Showtime, Starz, Cinemax, and HBO and the rest of the NFL sunday ticket for free..

PLUS I can watch the thursday night games!!!

What do I do? Yay or Nay ?

don’t forget there will also be several saturday games on nfl network as well. i have insight digital which allows me to get nfl network so i’m not actually a part of satellite nation.

    Just do it, already.

    I have DirecTV.

I will tell you that their HDDVR is a real turd. The regular receivers are probably better.

But, my total pacakage, with local programming is less than you pay.

Find a friend or family member who has DirecTV, and have them refer you to them. You each get $50, and their best current package.

I love DirecTV, and the NFL channel is decent. You’ll want to mute the talking heads during the broadcast, but they’ll fix that.

EDIT: I live in Southern California, so clouds and reception are never a problem. That is a valid consideration. Rain clouds are not usually a problem, but thunderstorms and snow might be…

Hell yeah do it! Dont forget about those Saturday games and also the NFLTicket kicks ***!! — you should be able to order that at a huge discount b/c only a month left.

  • CH ;) says:

Sorry but Directv *****!!! I had it for 3 years and any time it was cloudy outside we lost reception and we lived on top of a hill. They would over charge me on my bill so I ended up spending an hour on the phone trying to get it all straightened out. Then when I finally canceled it they told me I had to pay $125 just to disconnect! I really hated everything about Directv!

  • stylez4o1 says:

Do it if you really want the network. I waited until my cable company agreed to terms with the NFL network. It was a decent wait. I’m not a big fan of DTV anyways. Maybe I should be!

And thats why im not a big fan because what the person above me said.

  • JCam says:

No! Do not get DirecTV! When it is cloudy or a thunderstorm is going on, the reception goes out and it gets really annoying when that happens. Trust me, I was a former DirecTV customer. Now I have Comcast Digital Cable and am really happy I do. Well I have Comcast at my home. Right now in my dorm room at Grand Valley State I get Charter Cable TV™. Stick with cable.

  • enigmatica says:

Seems to me as if you’ve answered your own question there. If you can get more on Directv for virtually the same amount of money, why WOULDN’T you switch?

  • Steve T says:

dude, do what i do. every thursday get your buds and have a guys night out at buffalo wild wings. best place on the earth to watch football. get there around 645, eat play poker, then its on to football.

  • ★Football Chick-a-Dee!★ says:

Do It! Do It! Do It!!
I have Dish Network n I live on NFL Network… and its footbal 24/7… where football season never ends!! So during spring n summer nfl network keeps me gng!!! Even tho gumble n collingsworth **** as commentators… I highly reccomend nfl network
Nfl sunday ticket is best if ur team isn’t by ur hometown
Ex: I like the Cowboys n I’m in TX so we get all their games…. but say I’m a Chargers fan I wouldn’t see all their games…
So in other words get sunday ticket ONLY if they don’t show ur teams games on local channels!

  • stormer_xxi says:

I love satelite. It’s awesome. Do it!

  • tmg03 says:

yeah sum ppl have touched on it but i think its worth it just to get ur buds together and head out to a sports bar to watch certain games u wanna see.. i have comcast and for the packers cowboys game i just went to buffalo wild wings and watched it.. personally i’ve never had directv but have used it a lot on other ppl’s tv’s and they say its a lot of hassel and its kinda hit or miss whether u’ll get bad reception during storms and stuff and i dont like the overall layout of it in comparison to digital cable.. i also think comcast is much better quality than directv but thats a debate

  • buddy_z34 says:

me i got Time Warner and i know it ***** not being able to watch the NFL Network or get NFL ticket.

i thought about getting DirecTV for my game room only and sticking with cable for the rest of the rooms and then when Time Warner got the NFL network i would end my DirecTV.

you also gotta look at it this way……when i first had satellite years ago i was not happy with it. i lived in an area that had alot of thunderstorms and it was always messing up my signal.

im happy with my cable service the only thing i dont like is not being able to get the NFL network but they will get it soon hopefully.

  • tocman45 says:

I have had DirecTV for 10 years, in two different states in the midwest and have never had a problem with reception. The only time the signal goes out is when there is a heavy rain (emphasis on heavy) and it bounces off the dish. Sunday ticket rocks and the price is about the same for cable…but the picture channel across the board is better. I don’t know many times I’ve been at friend’s homes and watched cable that has some snowy channels. Why would you pay for THAT?
