Presumable there are composite video and audio outputs on the back of your cable box and/or your DVR. (Yellow/white/red rca plugs).

You just connect those to a DVD recorder input and let her rip.

actually directv dvr’s are only $99 and most of the time you can get them for free. and you can buy Tivo and use it with Directv. and tivo’s not the only one you can go to best buy and they all types of generic dvr’s you can buy.

all dish companies off dvdr with service but they are pre programed for their service not all companies ie disg, dirct use the same satielite, the each andsee who uses what

You’ll need a TV or box that has an ATSC tuner, but the signal has to be very clear and there has to be over-the-air HD signals in your area. There isn’t in all areas.

You should not need any other equipment if the DVR has the Red/hite/yellow conections too.

Cable from wall connects into DVR. DVR connects to TV.

A TV with the Red/yellow/white connections is actually newer than a TV with only coaxil connections.

I have a JVC DR-MV150B. I choice it because I wanted a digital TV tuner & a DVR in case we wanted to switch it around the house. It’s now $198 at Sam’s Club. Buttons on the remote are positioned/sized better than the Samsung & the Sony. My Samsung lasted less than 1 yr before the VCR side went out. The Sony lasted about 2 yrs before both sides went out. I didn’t use either machine very much so I was really disappointed. So far the JVC is meeting all my needs. Trying to get family videos on DVD before VCRs are gone forever.
